InfoComm 2011 Wrap-Up

Orlando, Florida recently played host to InfoComm 2011. The show was the second largest in the history of the event with more than 33,000 visitors from over 90 Countries. InfoComm 2011 was the largest ever held in Orlando, with 925 exhibitors covering more than 160,000 square metres of floor space.

Australian Monitor was a guest of our US Distributor, Starin Marketing with an impressive display covering approximately 35 square metres on Starin's very impressive (big) stand. US Integrators and international guests were able to see the latest and greatest from the AMD, Revolution and XRS series.

The response to the Australian Monitor range was extremely positive and this has been reflected in a steady and rapid growth in the North American market over the past 12-18 months. We all look forward to continued growth in the Americas.

New Additions to the Australian Monitor XRS Speaker Range

With the release of the XRS speaker range nearly two years ago, Australian Monitor established a range of great sounding and aesthetically pleasing injection moulded enclosures. The XRS range has established a strong position in the injection moulded speaker market, so Australian Monitor have looked to expand the current XRS range of speakers and in the next few weeks you will see the first of the new XRS additions arrive.

Australian Monitor XRS Out Door Voltage (ODV) Speakers

Australian Monitor will also be adding three new models with the “ODV” suffix. These are the outdoor constant voltage versions, and as the name suggests, these are designed to be weatherproof and have constant voltage transformers on board. They also feature a low impedance transformer bypass tap. ODV models are black only with features that include:

A captive fly lead with weatherproof grommet

UV stabilised

IP44 rated

The look of the enclosures is the same as the standard XRS speakers.

The Australian Monitor XRS8ODV, XRS10ODV and XRS12ODV speakers also have superior sound quality. The IP rating has not affected the XRS sound quality, nor does the transformer greatly reduce the sonic performance when running at 100/70 volt line. The ODV speakers are punchy, full range and offer outstanding sonic performance in an IP rated enclosure.

Australian Monitor XRS White Speakers

We will also now be stocking the XRS8, XRS10 and XRS12, in white with the first shipment due into stock in the next few weeks. The white versions feature exactly the same performance as the black XRS models and have a stylish white foam backed grill. The part numbers have a “W” suffix. Pricing for the white models is the same as the black XRS models.

Australian Monitor delves further into the world of DSP with the much-anticipated release of the Zone Revolution.

Australian Monitor’s design policy has always been to develop innovative, intelligent products that are easy to set up and even easier to use. The Zone Revolution is no different. Directed towards the bar and club markets, the Zone Revolution’s ability to handle multi-zone paging and BGM routing, with the added flexibility of on-board DSP allows the integrator to truly tailor each system to their clients needs.

Need more zones? No problem, just link a second Zone Revolution to achieve up to six stereo outputs (release 2012). Need remote control? The Zone Revolution provides support for a range of control panels over RS485, Ethernet control of all audio parameters, and integration with Australian Monitor’s own programmable ICON-CP’s.

Zone Revolution Accessories:

Paging Microphones – The Australian Monitor ICON3 Paging Microphone has been designed exclusively to compliment the Zone Revolution, and provides a simple, ergonomic and visually stunning solution for multi-buss paging.

Control Panels – Integration of the Australian Monitor ICON-CP into a Zone Revolution system is as simple as setting a dip switch address and selecting the desired functionality via the supplied software. The ICON-CP can control functions such as preset recall, input or output mute/un-mute, processor bypass and BGM select.

Each of the Zone Revolution’s RJ45 ports will support up to 20 panels over a maximum distance of 500 meters, with greater length achievable with the insertion of the ICON-WPPS 24VDC power supply.

AMD2100P Now Shipping

Following on from the AMD100 and AMD200 mixer amplifiers, the new AMD power amplifiers are now shipping. Like the AMD mixer amplifiers, the AMD power amplifier range is the culmination of nearly thirty years of commercial amplifier design and manufacture representing a quantum leap in the commercial amplifier market.

The AMD Power amps are Class D design and all four models are 1 RU. The AMD power amplifiers will come in dual 100W (AMD2100P), a dual 200W (AMD2200P), a four by 100W (AMD4100P) and a four by 200W (AMD4200P) models. The amps are fan cooled and ship with rear support rack ears. The design is sleek and in keeping with our Revolution and AMD mixer amplifier range. AMD AMDxx00P amplifiers have balanced inputs per channel, rear panel level controls, 100V, 70V or 4Ω outputs per channel and we also have included a standby state contact closure and also remote Voltage Controlled Attenuator (VCA) master control per channel. If that’s not enough you also have the ability to control a number of parameters via RS232. The AMD power amplifiers offer a commercial amp package that delivers more features than any other commercial amp on the market at incredibly competitive price points.

As mentioned you can control the AMDxx00P amps via RS232 control, the parameters that can be controlled are as follows:

Just released! Australian Monitor’s iPad App

So, what’s the most important component of your audio installation? Is the quality of the speakers and the amplifiers used? Is it 1.21 Jigawatt Flux Capacitor or maybe even the Resonating Polarisation Regulator??....well, some of these items may be important, but for the end-user it’s probably got more to do with the user interface.

Whether it’s providing control modules for Crestron and AMX, attractive wall mount Control Panels or intuitive software GUI’s, Australian Monitor understands the importance of the end user interface.

Taking this concept even further, Australian Monitor is currently developing a range of applications for Apple’s iPad products, the first of these being the AV Revolution iPad App. The new Australian Monitor AV Revolution App offers the same functionality as the AV Revolution software GUI. This presents a simple and intuitive end user interface, giving your client control over their complex AV system that is as simple as launching an App on their iPad.
